Sivart Reborn 7
Hmm... aren't people odd everywhere? I know yesterday was odd, like watching my life so far in rewind. Spent they later morning early afternoon with a person I've known now for 13 months, then people I've known for 4 years, then someone I've known just about all my life. I'm closer to the people I've known for shorter amounts of time... which is a scary thought. @Kati: I don't get your longer post... I'm lost!!!

I tried to label it that way. Sorry if it was unclear.
Marie 73
Everything isn't in yet, but so far English is the official language of Arizona. I'm happy about that. But right now the banning of gay marriage is neck-and-neck. If that goes through I will not be happy.
Olivia 26
Ahhhhnold Shwarzenegger (sp?) RE-ELECTED! I LOVE CALIFORNIA! @ Marie: You're against gay marriage? (Not trying to start a heated debate, just curious/starting conversation if you're interested.)
Marie 73
Oh no! I'm for it. I would be unhappy if the ban went through.
Olivia 26
Ah, I see. I misinterpreted, cause I'm not familiar with Arizona's Propositions and such being voted on today. And about English being the offical language of Arizona.....what else would it be? O_0 I thought English was the official language of the nation
Marie 73
Nope. America doesn't have an official language. Neither does Japan! The world is full of surprises. Dems seem to have won the House. Yes! I love my birth state (Cali) but they banned gay marriage. And rejected funding alt fuels.
Olivia 26
Yea I'd rather we had gay marriage here, too. How many states have legal gay marriage now?
Ekho 52
I always get so confused by the American legal system
Olivia 26
*whispers in a conspiratory tone* Don't worry, Americans do too!
jan 14
Hmph... I don't understand why same-sex marriage is such an issue! I mean, it's a good thing if people want to commit to... commitments, right?
Olivia 26
Gay couples already have some legal process that gives them some sort of the same marriage rights as straight couples (as in tax and insurance and kin's rights, etc. But it's not the same as marriage, either legally and in spirit, so they want to have marriages exactly the same way a straight couple can. But, some people don't want homosexuals to be married in that sense, for a few reasons: they are of a religion that considers homosexuality to be a sin, they think that marriage should stay between a man and a woman for some reason or another, or they are just against gays. (I don't have all the info for either side of the argument, so anyone that has more pls share it.) I'm trying to make this make some sense, Jan. Is it working?
