During my reread I discovered I actually enjoyed book six a lot. I've also noticed KoD is a lot easier to read after the dreadful book 10. But it could have been better, esp. with the White Tower conflict. I still think Eye is the best, though. I hope RJ makes the last book like the first.

I found Eye to be a bit formulaic. It's still excellent though. I dunno why, but I love all the moments of character interaction that happen between all the action. Meeting Loial in Eye is still one of my favorite parts.

That has happened. Books/movies have a main character that is not heroic and/or their good/evil alignment is in question. This character is called the "antihero", which is different from a simple antagonist. Examples off the top of my head are Lestat from Anne Rice's novels, or Alucard from the Hellsing TV anime series (both vampires I realize, but this was off the top of my head).

If heroes are like +10, then wouldn't antiheroes be negative heroes... like -10, and thus still in a way heroes just backwards? Lestat is certainly very heroic...especially when he goes rock star.

 

You know, it certainly isn't just RJ who writes about his Sexual fantasies...those Anne Rice vampire novels are as dirty as they go...

She's even dirtier. His simple fantasies about Rand (himself) swimming naked with 10 or so women are innocent compared to some of those.

I donno, RJ did the whole BDSM thing pretty thoroughly...The Anne Rice stuff was at least usually done with consent.

Did Anne Rice have any lesbians? All I can remember is male-on-male action. Then you have RJ who mentions gay men once, but there are pillow friends everywhere skipping through the flower fields.

I don't think she had much lesbians...she didn't have much women at all. Oh! Except for the corpse eating ones and a few Mary Sues. Or maybe they were all Mary Sues?
