Fake Aes Sedai?

Recommended Posts

Am I the only one who thinks that Egwene, Nynaeve and Elayne shouldn't be Aes Sedai? Sure, they know lots of new weawes and stuff but they can't have learned everything an Aes Sedai needs to know and they haven't sworn the three oaths.

Hm...I have a mixed opinion. Egwene, I think, deserves it. She learnt a lot about discipline and honour and what with the Aiel Wise Ones (even though I detest the Aiel Wise Ones...) Though the only reason she was raised to Aes Sedai (and Amyrlin at that) was that the Hall thought she could be easily controlled.

The other two...I'm not so sure. Nynaeve is certainly an incrediably talented Healer, yet half the time she's just feeling her way in the dark. Methinks she would have benefited from some extra training in the Tower.

Elayne...no. She was raised because she was Egwene's friend, but then again she came up with all those uses for Ter'angreal...but I still don't think she was justified in being raised.

I think if they were all tested they would pass, but I still think they need to be tested anyway. Although, I also think the test for Aes Sedai needs rethinking, as does pretty much everything the White Tower has been doing for the last 3000 years.

(I agree with Sivart and Laura on the Aiel point, they are so annoying. So what if your ancestors were peaceful and you are warriors? No reason to abandon your life or go insane...)

I also agree with Mea. Nynaeve, Egwene, and Elayne are all very inexperienced, their demeanor is not Aes Sedai- like, they have naieve ideas of what is means to be "good" and fight evil and the responsiblities of having power. Overall they just don't seem ready yet to stand among the women that have guided and protected the world since the Breaking. But I think once they have more training and seasoning, they will make great leaders of the Tower.

I like Aes Sedai. Really I do. But they aren't much better than the three rugrats. In fact, newly raised Aes Sedai act just as stupid. If not for the split all three would have been tested by now and raised. I don't think they deserve it, but I don't think a number of women with the shawl deserve it.

My only issue is how it came about. I don't agree with Egwene raising them up, whether her reasons were friendship or political.

Yeh.

I like Eggy, actually. There were a few books there where she was bugging me, but nowhere near the Elayne political parts, and Perrin's moaning in terms of annoyance. She did a great thing for the Tower. I still think she's different from the girls, as she never was actually raised to Aes Sedai.

This is the one point that I agree with Cadsuane about, all three of them should be in novice white for a while. Sure they came up with some new stuff but they learned alot of that from moghedien and they have alot of gaps in their knowledge about the use of saidar.
