Yea, they just use kind of literal terms for blood relations, instead of cousin and uncle and aunt they use second-sister or father-brother or father-sister. Sometimes I think they are like cavemen, living in caves and speaking weird basic language interspersed with some Old Tongue.

Im not sure about the cave-men analogy, but I agree that the aiel can seem fairly primitive in some ways

Yea you're right ....they slaughtered and ravaged nations because one person cut down a tree. As far as we know, I don't think they even talked to the Cairhienin first or anything.

 

I know that things like that and wars over "honor" have been fought before, both in our world and WoT, but it really is the ultimate idiocy, in my opinion.

People have gone to war for the death of men. People have gone to war for the death of tyrants. Then is it really that absurd that people would go to war to avenge a beautifull pure thing like a tree that was murdered by the pride and vain of humans? Men earn death where trees and other creatures do not. And with men I mean humans, I'm sure there are some women out there that deserve death too. Just can't picture it in my head.

The silly thing is that they did... I mean, a desert dwelling people would be very lost in woods. I mean, they might be used to covering their tracks by making sure there are no foot prints in the sand...

 

Add to that winter,... if you aren't prepared for winter with clothing and food and stuff, you'll die *nods* Unless you happen to be a fat bear who can go to sleep until spring in some cave. Bears are so cuddly.

Yea but this is ONE person that cut down the tree. He is the king, you can't say no to him if he decides to cut it down. They weren't ready to start a full-scale coup and overturn him just for cutting down a tree (otherwise they would have done that ages ago, when their first realized the Damodred dynasty were bad apples). The whole nation of innocents and thousands of other soldiers who came to help didn't deserve to die, not to mention the indirect war deahts caused by famine. And lets not forget, they didn't go straight to Cairhien, I'm sure the books say they hacked their way across Tear to get to Cairhien first or some such!
