I don't know about Siuan. Sometimes she seems like she's done everything, and sometimes she appears worse than Egwene. In New Spring she doesn't mind showing her legs and in The Fires of Heaven she nearly cries while exposing half of her stockings. Who is she really?

Hmm...maybe in tFoH she was upset because she wasn't in control of the situation. She had expected to walk in there and be given the info she needed, not have to pull up her skirt for a bunch of horny guys. Plus, she was still shaken from deing stilled/deposed and probably still getting used to the fact that she is no longer automatically in charge of everything and everyone around her. In NS she didn't care about exposing her legs because it was just part what she happened to be doing at the time - whether straddling a horse or catching fish - and she knew she could defend herself against any guy that tried to do anything anyways.

 

Maybe we can boil Siuan's thoughts down to:

Show my legs to men of my own voliton: fine, whatever

Some lady who used to work for me telling me to show my legs to men: big no-no

well ok. for that little icon it looks to be just humping with the tongue out, but it doesn't mean it stopped there!! She's jus gettin warmed up....

 

And I quite agree with Olivia; if she's in control of it, of course it's not gonna be a big deal. Plus, she was a lot younger, so she'd prob do a lot more daring type things than when she's older (even if she doesn't look it).

I was referring to many separate occasions by using those in particular. It's like she completely altered her personality to fit in the Tower, and when she was no longer a part of it she got really confused.

 

And by the way. That icon could be Siuan expressing her love to Moiraine by licking her shoes clean.

Yes, she had it bad for Moiraine in NS. Moiraine said she never loved anyone more than Siuan then... but didn't seem to be as touchy feely. Did she reserve everything for their kiss and cuddle sessions or she just wasn't as into the sex?

 

I sort of think she didn't "get" the full experience of having sex at that point. She was more immature than Siuan. Sex is so taboo for Cairhienin, it's no wonder they have trouble with it when it starts happening. They either seem to go awkward or crazy for it!

 

Brynefan, that seems right and that Siuan did fit her personality into what was suitable for the Tower. She bought into the brainwashing a little more than Moiraine, but she had more to lose than Moiraine if she didn't buy into it. She wasn't off on her own like her friend was.

 

Olivia, I think you're right too about the stockings. It was different because it wasn't really her choice, and she couldn't stand extra vulnerability at that point.

I don't think so. If she had been, don't you think her language would have been "corrected" for good, instead of until she was raised Aes Sedai? I think she just went with the flow until she could do more of what she wanted. Just like any other woman there. The Tower isn't exactly a place to "be yourself", esp as a novice of Accepted.

 

Plus, (and i can't remember if i said this or not but...) she was quite young when she was in NS and a lot of girls are more...daring at that age then when they get older. True she would still look the same (if not better) but she's more mature and wouldn't just flaunt herself around in the same fashion as her earlier years.
