[Split] What's age got to do with it?

Something that I thought of.. was that the age difference between Thom and Mo and Lan and Nyn is about the same. People don't seem to think it's icky for Nyn and Lan to be together.. or do they? *prefers other characters paired with each of those, even though Nyn/Lan is ok too* So, I'm not really sure what people think.

 

But, anyhow! Are we sure we don't like Thom for Mo because of the huge age difference, or because Thom is too old for us?

Personally I think the main problem with Thom/moiraine is because although shes really in her forties, moiraine looks like shes in her twenties so its just wierd for her to end up with a wrinkly old gleeman

I always think of her as a forty year old woman who looks young. But, whenever I think of just how old Thom is in a practical way I get all itchy! So, when I said it could bother "us" before I really meant that! *giggle*

Just yet another (if more extreme) case of the uglier older man getting a gorgeous young woman. And she doesn't even LIKE children but somehow he has made her want to have his kids. /gag

Maybe Moiraine just isn't that good at love... I mean, most healthy women usually have managed to trick someone into marrying them and if they are clever, they might even have fooled the poor man into have kids.

 

But maybe Moiraine is like one of those Kittens who stares at a bird in a birdcage for days on end without figuring out how to get it. But when she met Thom and his pipe smoke and bad breath made her dizzy she thought "oooh! So this is what it feels to have a crush?".

 

And now simply thinks that she's lucky to have found someone in who's precence she goes dizzy.

 

As to Nyny and Lan... well, me always thought of Lan as a medieval biker... and Nyn just seems to like being treated roughly and having her hair pulled.

I do disagree with you, Niklas! Momo isn't a kitten at all. She is a girl fox, and girl foxes sometimes do things like a puppy, but mostly like a kitten that has gone to live outside. They would rather chase all the chickens than get a small little bird in a silly cage. The problem must be that she ate them all up and never thought of making a rich one marry her! But, one day Thom fox saw her cough a little and a feather came out, and he was tired and so didn't laugh right away. Momo, squinting through his heavy pipe smoke, only thought that he would make a good mate because of his not making fun, and couldn't quite see what a grey fox he got to be!

 

See, here is an old picture of Momo being thrown into the water by Lan. What a meanie! You can see that she is part kitten and part puppy.

 

 

And here is Thom when he didn't laugh at Momo, but you can see that he was trying not to real hard.

 

 

Or! The non-Niklas version - Maybe Moiraine just likes to be in the middle of a bendy limb pretzel while being told a story in High Chant? Maybe she is a clever one after all, and has heard that Thom can make anyone Chant High....

Maybe the Damodred family has a secret fetish for moustache-tugging, so Momo and Elayne are both entranced by the dead white rats inhabiting his upper lip. Or maybe she thinks Thom's fingers must be skilled if he juggles and plays the harp so well....no to mention being able to hold his breath well with the flute.

Yes, well, getting a little more serious (maybe being half serious instead of completely silly!) Thom probably is pretty talented in many things, and he's clever and things! But he makes Momo laugh. She must like people that can do that!

Pfffff. Shouldn't be too hard to find someone who can make moiraine laugh. I mean if Nynaeve can manage to make Lan laugh...And shes like crazy, albeit in a very loveable fashion.

Just say something witty and she will giggle. Or, look like she might be amused and distracts you from thinking about it by doing something else if you aren't in her circle of friendliness!
