Started reading World War Z by Max Brooks, its good but its making me want to prepare for an imminant zombie apocalypse .

wheel of time 😏

Still haven't read King of Scars yet...lol I think I'm subconsciously waiting because there is no more currently after lol But I did just buy Shadow of the Fox by Juila Kagawa...so that'll be aft

I'v always been tempted to read his stuff, is it any good?

That depends on what you are looking for. It's not meant to be an entertaining or easy read. If you're interested in that type of nihilistic social-criticism philosophy then Nietzsche is a great guy to read (I say nihilistic but that doesn't really describe him; more like "humanity has to reinvent itself before we grind ourselves into the dust through the clashing of old ways of thinking and modern ways of living"). He's hard to explain, so I won't try - you can draw your own conclusions. H,ATH is organized into a collection of one-page (or even one- to two-sentence) entries, so it's easier to read than, say, Zarathustra, but his work can sometimes seem slow if you aren't used to the type of language. If you can get yourself into them, they are fascinating. Lots of emotion evoked in reading H,ATH and also plenty of food-for-thought.

@Kate: You started on Fingersmith? :-) Lemme know what you think.

@Laura: My sympathies. You should have an extra cookie :ddd:

@Olivia: I didn't like Kathy Reichs much. I picked up the books after watching Bones on TV, and I prefer the television characterisations. Do share your thoughts when you're done. I'd like to know if the books are worth pursuing -- I only read the one.

I'm reading:

- The Second Sex (Simone de Beauvoir)

- Stuff of Nightmares (Malorie Blackman)

Just finished:

- Holes (Louis Sachar)

- The latest Percy Jackson book (I forget the name)

Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence. and The Distinguished Jurists Primer. *vigorously rubs temples* I have a take home final I have now been working on for over 4 hours. *head falls on desk*

*pokes head* yes, my brain has definitely been over-exerted and has now turned to mush.

@ jan they were for multiple courses under Islamic law which included Usool ul Fiqh or as translated Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence, the second part was just Fiqh or the rulings of Islamic Law (so the rulings you actually get once you apply the principles), Maxims of Fiqh (Islamic Law), and finally Fara'id (Inheritance /Division of the Estate of the Deceased under Islamic law). I think I did well on all of it accept for the inheritance/estate because I actually had to solve cases which required the application of math skills I do not possess lol. My father was a lawyer. I hope some of it was genetic. :? Although I'm not going to be a lawyer. Just hopefully graduating with my BS in Islamic Sciences now if I flaming pass these exams! Ah, the end of the 4 year road has now come...*hibernates*
