Well, we've never come across this in the books, I wonder if the Aes Sedai were taught hand-to-hand combat tech ? Just in case they could not channel and did not have their warders around ?

Nyn may have a better chance as she grew up thumping people twice her age on their heads. Mo was royalty, but maybe a part of her education as one included some hand-to-hand ?

Indeed. A little known fact is that before Moiraine went to Tar Valon she was known in Shienar as Momo the warrior princess.

Thats why that king up there respects her so much. :)

Seriously though I think Greens might learn to fight but I doubt the other Ajahs do.

It is and they would probably profit from learning to use a sword or maybe a knife properly, learning to use a quarterstaff would be a good idea too since its more inconspicuous and dignified to walk around with a staff than a sword.

But it doesn't really seem like Aes Sedai are supposed to fight anybody except trollocs and that is supposedly harder than to fight a human, they are tougher physically atleast (though we never see any of that in the books where they fall like flies infront of farmers). Anyway one would need more force behind the blow to harm a Trolloc, and that is not considering getting behind the bastards guard without getting the sword or other miscellanious weapon knocked out of your hands.

So unless the Aes Sedai get more physical training besides becomeing more adept with weapons it wouldn't count for much.

They really don't seem to need to though since anybody can still use any weapon good enough to kill someone given the opportunity (Momo vs. Black Ajah in new spring). And in larger battle scenarios Aes sedai are more long ranged fighters anyway as are Asha'mans.

Now when I think about it, I don't think any Asha'man ever fought someone with a sword unless it was to be killed by Rand in Far Madding..

Well, she dominated Nynaeve in the second book when she came to get the boys, and in the first book when Nyn had her screaming fits Moiraine did not descend to her level.. and so was dominate in that way. She had her moments in the Stone of Tear too. Basically, that's what makes me think she would win a catfight too, plus the fact that the woman fights dirty. She doesn't need to be bigger or stronger. She cheats! But this has nothing to do with my levels of liking Nyn and Mo. I love them both. :P

Myrelle cheats worse. She would beat the holy panties off Moiraine and then eat her for breakfast. Cadsuane would win too. She wouldn't give anyone a chance to cat fight. She'd just backhand someone to the ground once they got in range if a cat fight was looming. There would be no contest.

I nominate Ajit for making one! I'll move these posts over there when you do! :P

Moiraine won that fight against the Black Ajah Mistress. She just ran up and stabbed her in the back. That is why I think Nynaeve could never really win. In a fair fight she would.

It doesn't seem likely that one would ever start, but I do think Moiraine would do something similar to what she's always done to win it!

Something like: Nynaeve would knock her down after extreme slapping, avoiding of slaps, and Moiraine would lay there for a moment. Nynaeve would turn to proclaim victory but before she is able a bruised and thumped Moiraine would leap up to cleanly slice free Nyn's entire braid, thereby "castrating" her. Any beating after that would not put the braid back on. :P And that is how I think Moiraine would cheat. I do not endorse what I suppose her actions might be! She is a bad bad win-at-all-costs shorty.
