Oh tech support, how I love thee

Every time there's some sort of connection/database issue with the forum, vBulletin sends me an email. I got 300 in 24 hours. Actually it was probably more like 298, but who's counting, really. I look up info at the vB support forums and find that it has nothing to do with the software but probably some file in the server's root. OK. Time to call host.

 

Hahahaha! First guy tells me the problem is fixed, never mind the 24 emails telling me otherwise. Next guy is like "yeah, ok, but does the site actually show an error?" Um, yes. Yes it does. Guy after that wants me to explain to him how to reproduce the error, because apparently even though ever freaking person who came to the forum yesterday seemed to encounter this issue, no one on staff had seen it. Never mind that I had explained twice that it was random: it wasn't like there was on specific link that caused the error to show up.

 

Needless to say my response wasn't all too happy and I didn't try to hide my frustration. Finally, some higher up got someone to fix the server. It only took 24 hours.

 

So yeah. If you had any issues the other day or earlier today, that was why. Someone did something stupid to a file and they didn't realize it until I bitched. Aaah, it feels good to rant.
