[Split]A burqa is not a niqab!

well, a few things led me to come to that guess (not conclusion).

on your blog, you mentioned several things which make you like a witch. i dont know what being a lesbian has to do with being a witch personally and i would have not made the connection between the two myself. however you did mention that as one of the things on your blog that made you witch-like, but that's beside the point. lesbian or not it was your post on your blog that led me to think that was the case, in addition to which was you mentioning your apartment needed cleansing from bad spirits (if i'm remembering correctly) and finally you saying that your religion is not predominant or accepted amongst whites. i didnt really consider who were raised by as being a decisive factor in who you are now, because a lot of people don't follow their parents religion. those were the things that led me to that guess. i didn't mean it to be offensive, which apparently it was, to you as well as others i'm assuming.

my apologies. peace.

Religion is always a sticky subject, even amongst family and friends.

Making assumptions is bad, and yet I can see Libby's point that she wasn't really making an assumption so much as trying to glean evidence. Perhaps that is a lawyer's way of looking at it, but I do see both sides of the issue here. :kissy: Although, it probably would have been better just to ask, then to make the kind of statement you did, Libby.

However, why Wicca and not voodoo? I mean, if there was ever a religion to freak out the white folks, that would be it. And as a bonus, it has roots in Catholicism so there comes the conservative background! Wiccans aren't the only witches, after all.

Before anyone tries to collect evidence on me, no I don't practice voodoo or anything of the sort. I'm spiritual, not religious, I believe in a Higher Power and the afterlife (not sure where I sit on reincarnation vs eternal life), but anything beyond that and I tend to be scientific. But not the Scientology kind of scientific :kissy:, definitely believe in taking pills and seeing a PhD when you have issues.

Since it's not a sensitive matter to me: None in the family goes to church other than special occasions. My relatives are members of (liberal translations ahead) the Swedish Church and Missionary Church (some of them have been members of both all the time, even before the organisations started co-working), but they mostly go to church to grab some coffee and gossip. My uncle is some sort of representative church politician, but all I know him for is getting slightly too drunk at parties and telling odd stories. :kissy:

They used to be stricter on my mother's side and some of those relatives still are, but we rarely spend time with them. Looking at photos from 100 years back yes, the women did wear loose fitting clothes and shawls on their heads, as proper Christians :kissy:

when you said that i thought of a broken accordion. :hbang:

edit: i thought voodoo was too scary, that's why that one didn't cross my mind :faint:

Why the wink? And how is it too scary? Voodoo really would have made more sense if you were assuming I was a witch in some way... which you partly seemed to get from me being satirical about other people's views on feminism and the demonization of Pagan beliefs (my silly blog post). Satire doesn't always translate well on the net so I'll give you that.

Voodoo is not scary. Being afraid of voodoo is an aversely racist thought pattern, though. It is perpetuated ad nauseum in white society. I gotta say it.
