  1. I agree with Marie, they are definitely having sex (in that same Faile PoV, Faile points out that Galina sleeps in Therava's tent) but not in the normal pillowfriend way. I think it really is just the pleasure of dominating for Therava. She publicly humiliates Galina a lot, doing things like calling her "Lina" or "my little Lina" when Aiel never use pet names in public, and I think it's mentioned that she's hung Galina upside down in public for beating and also singed her hair off once. (And Faile wonders something like "That still left the question why Galina stayed when Therava seemed to take everyone opportunity to humiliate her.") And in private Galina says Therava beats her just to take out her anger with Sevanna. I think rough forced sex (I assume it's rough and forced, unless Galina is really kinky =X) is just another way for her to exert power over Galina. Purposefully making sure everyone in the camp knows that Galina is Therava's personal plaything is just another aspect of the humiliation, I think.

I didn't hate CoT on the first read-through, I just felt like it was too... reactionary. Basically the whole book was PoV's from everyone and their donkey reacting to the Cleansing (with little pieces here and there of the BA hunt or crap like ghosts appearing and food going bad to emphasize upcoming Arma'geddon). Maybe it was to drive home the point of just how world-changing the Cleansing really was, but it got dull.

  2. Thanks for the compliment, MierinSedai!

But, I do think this fic is dead. I apologize, MW. I thought it was just out for a nice pleasant boat ride, but its rotting, fish-nibbled body washed up on shore a few days ago. It's time for me to just admit that it will never come back to life. Maybe it will be reborn in three thousand years, though.

  3. I think my favorite parts (after the Galina parts) were the Mat/Tuon interactions. They were funny because of how little Mat and Tuon understand each other, yet the sexual tension between them just keeps building. In a way, it kind of felt like Min/Rand all over again, with one partner already "knowing" they will end up as a couple so that partner resigns themselves to just falling in the love with the person they're going to end up with anyway.

  4. Boom boom! Two huge bangs just now had me jumping up and running to see what just fell in the other room... It took me a few minutes to realize it was sonic booms from the space shuttle passing overhead on its way to landing. :(

@ Tosh: Yeah, I know that feeling. It's even worse when you try to laugh with sore abs. :badday: And thanks for the encouragement, Jan ;P

  5. Hehe, Sanderson uses "trousers" where I think RJ always said "breeches" (I'm not complaining, just saying it was one of the first things I noticed).

I do hope Graendal shows up, or that captive Semi gets some direct screentime.

  6. Its constantly mentioned through the books that female channelers do not reach their full potential in the OP until after (at least) a few years channeling. Why wouldn't this be the same if one of the forsaken were reborn.

It's mentioned that male channelers also take some time to reach their full OP potential (although they do it in fits and spurts rather than a woman's steady climb). But there has been no mention of Aran'gar or Osan'gar being weaker now that they are reborn, either from their own PoVs or other people talking about them.

I think in WoT a person's ability with the OP is a condition of the soul and not of the body (from Aran'gar still being able to touch saidin even though his soul now inhabits a female body), so even if a soul is put into a body that has little or no experience with the OP (or maybe can't touch the OP at all) the soul will still retain its previous skill level and Talents.

That said, I agree that Cyndane = Lanfear, but I'm not sure if she was reborn the same way Aginor and Balthamael were. Did Lanfear escape the Finn on her own or did the DO "extract" her from their dimension and put her back into Randland? Did her original body die fighting Moiraine, or at the hands of the Finn, or did she kill herself to escape? Or maybe her Lanfear body (now soul-less) is still stuck in the Finn dimension and the DO was only allowed to extract her soul (since it belongs to him) from there and then put it into a Randland body. Is the weaker OP a punishment for getting caught or is it a side-effect of whatever happened during the reincarnation or during the time the Finn "held" her?

Too many questions. =/ Hopefully RJ left something in his notes that Sanderson will put in that will answer our questions and maybe prove your theory, Ekho.

Edit: Or Lanfear could just be one of the latest in RJ's string of "powerful women becoming weaker for no good reason" and he just wanted to confuse us. rolleyes.gif

  7. I'm afraid I have never been a believer on the Elayne/Avi angle. I mean...being pillow friends with someone you view as a sister is a bit, um, kinky for my tastes.

I think RJ put hints of Elayne/Avi because he has a straight-man fantasy about "doing" two sisters at once, rolleyes.gif which I've always thought to be a rather gross, and like you said a little too kinky, but I guess my angle on supporting El/Avi is that I'd rather have El/Avi than Rand/El or Rand/Avi.

  8. My favorite scene was when Birg comes storming up to Avi and Min with the intent of cock-blocking Rand and Elayne, and Avi and Min have to beg Birg to let them get her drunk instead. It was funny after the retardedness of the scene immediately preceding it. And am I the only one who thinks Avi and Elayne are pillow friends by this point?
