Well, the Forsaken are serial murderers but if people can talk about whether or not some of them are redeemable than Colavaere deserved a second chance by way of banishment or some such punishment for ordering some corporate killings.
Now I'm confused.
I thought you said Colaevere didn't deserve what she got, i.e. banishment to a farm... but now you are saying she did deserve the banishment?
(It's not that I disagree entirely with either stance, I'm just confused by what you mean, Kaitlin.) -
Colavaere didn't deserve what she got.
I was attracted to Colavaere starting way back in TFoH when she was sending those girls to seduce Rand. And then in ACoS in her "queen scene" she was impressive too. Not a nice woman, definitely, but maybe I just have a thing for older Cairhienin noblewomen

I'm curious, though, Kaitlin. You don't think she deserved to be punished for the several murders she ordered (IIRC, two lords and one of her maids)?

Deja Dead by Kathy Reichs, a forensic crime/murder mystery. I didn't notice it until halfway through the book, but funnily enough, a college professor I once had is quoted on the back cover as praising the book.

I have a weak spot of for Nynaeve
I love how she thinks the way to solve Elayne/Avi's violent tendencies is to slap them silly.I liked that part too!
And I think it's in this same book where she says something along the lines of "Only a fool thinks she can get anything done by browbeating people" or something, and Elayne stares and Avi LOL's. Poor Nyn is so oblivious

So many cakes! Has anyone ever tried the chocolate cake in the microwave in a coffee mug thing? Those are really ugly.
Yeah, I've made a few of those. They are ugly indeed but taste good if you do them properly.

-
I baked a cake today.
Its incrediably ugly.Nonsense! A cake's true beauty lies in its yumminess, not its appearance.

I was googling for Moiraine/Siuan fanfic when I found this place. I lurked moar and then finally joined.

........................ Jan's a girl????!!!!!
;)
It appears MW has its very own Sherlock Holmes
Honestly, Asmo... you've been here almost two years! -
Apparently, I have accidentally eaten half a chocolate cake my sister baked last night.
This is awful -- I remember nothing!LIES! Your sister used Compulsion on you to make you forget what you did last night, so that she could eat half that cake herself and blame you for it. Dastardly!

Poor Jan
Computer problems are the worst. -
I wonder when Galad will find out he and Rand are half-brothers. That would make Berelain Rand's sister-in-law.

lol, Liverella! And lol, Tosh xD
Her kesiera looks almost inverted, like the gem is trying to disassociate itself from and crawl up and away from that awful grinning face.

I don't think so. There are a lot of WoT fansites, many of them much bigger than our cozy little forum. We aren't the only Moiraine fans. He probably visits places like WoTmania or DragonMount.
It's possible, though.

my home being assailed by a small invasion of spiders. At least nine of them, which is an unusually high number.
Their tiny carcasses will serve others as a reminder of my supremacy.
Nynaeve, the Spider-Smiter Officiale, would be proud of you! I, too, detest creatures with an unholy number of limbs and if I see one in my humble abode then I slay it with my kendo sword (which stands propped in a corner the other 99.9% of the time).

indeed, the more Mo the merrier.
I laughed and facepalmed at the same time.

I have just read Cadsuane's introduction into the main series and holy fishpaste it was awesome!Really? I found her annoying from the start. I pretty much face-palmed at her introduction scene, basically an "Oh great, ANOTHER extremely bossy and opinionated character who treats everyone else like dirt, because WoT doesn't have enough of those already."
And on a sidenote... lol fishpaste

You want random? Okay.
Witness the chest-gasm.
-
It will probably be a cliffhanger. The suffering of Moiraine fans has been drawn out by the author for over six books, and I see no reason why Sanderson won't drag it out a little longer just for schadenfreude.
-
Were we attacked by spam bot last night?

Edit: @ Liverella: Haha, for a moment I misread that as meaning you were going to spend two days on acid.

-
Haha, those are creepy, yet hilarious tooo.
Good find, Liverella. 2 and 5 are the best (worst?)

Double posting again a month and half later.
I came across another little thing and rather than make a new thread I will just post it here, since it was for random connections/misconnections noticed in the books. So the chant "The lions sing and the hills take flight. The moon by day, and the sun by night. Blind woman, deaf man, jackdaw fool. Let the Lord of Chaos rule." is from LoC, and I was reading a book about ancient military history and came upon this section about Hittite warriors:
"The soldiers swore an oath to the king and to the royal family; to ensure their oath, they underwent a magical ritual, in one part of which a blind woman and a deaf man were brought before the army and the army was told, 'Look upon this blind woman and deaf man. Whoever violates his oath to king or queen, let his oaths take him - let them strike him blind, let them make him deaf. He will be as blind as this blond woman. He will be as deaf as this deaf man. May his oaths destroy him - himself, his wife, his children, and all his kinfolk.'"
I wonder if RJ made that chant/rhyme intentionally like that old warrior oath
, since one of Rand's themes as the Dragon Reborn is about "breaking all bonds" and oaths, and that last part about "Kinslayer". Or it could just be another coincidence...

but isn't spanking for kids?
i just never thought of spanking in that way...That's part of the humiliation aspect of it, that she's being treated as a child while she is being beaten. You really never heard of adults spanking each other, even after reading about all the WoTlanders who do it?

-
Yeah, domestic abuse like spanking/beating the wife in order to "keep her in line" was sadly acceptable back in the day in America, even just a few decades ago. And of course other cultures still do that. =/ RJ is just a relic of his time.
