I don't think it's unreasonable to be attracted to one of your characters.
After all, you made them, so it's likely that you, subconsciously maybe, made them into what you fantasize about, or into the "perfect" person for you that no real human could come close to.

I can see Mesaana (sorry, I cannot spell her name) do it rather than Moggy. Mesaana needs to do something big before the end of series and this could be her moment.
Mesaana is the correct spelling.
And I agree with you, so far she hasn't done much except manipulate the Black Ajah and confuse us as to who she really is. (I still vote she killed Tsutama Rath and stole her identity!)

Well there is no guide to being the Dragon Reborn. He didn't know wtf to do in the beginning, but he decided to try to unite the nations so they would have a chance to stand against the new Trolloc Wars.
Yes, he caused a lot of war and strife, but those kinds of things were partially happening before he came along or were caused by events outside his control.
Now, the Aiel are almost all united for the first time, as are Tear, Illian, Cairhien, Andor, and the Borderlanders aren't killing the southerners either. There are rebels and splitoff groups and the Seanchan, because absolute peace is still far off. But I'd say he isn't doing too badly considering he is meant to break the world anew (which might just be a metaphor for destroying the modern nations' boundaries and such and creating a more unified world). He's not particularly brilliant, but he knows enough to let other people have control and be in charge of what they know best: like setting up regents to rule in some places and letting generals lead most of the army and trying to restore Andor to Elayne.

I always thought of straight as being someone who has never had a secual experience with someone of the same gender, which Moiraine has. So she may not be truly straight, but then again, if it was just Siuan she loved and not women in general (which is debatable) then she isn't really bisexual either. But, from evidence in NS we clearly see she is attracted to men, so she isn't a lesbian. *sigh* Oh the conundrum!

personally Iv always thought theres not enough room in heaven so free will narrows down the numbers:P
LOL that actually makes more sense than most of the rambling I usually hear about free will!
Rant/ I believe, or I'd like to believe, in free will. I think that much or who we are is shaped by how we grew up and the people that have interacted with us, and some of our core personality is just in our blood and can't be escaped no matter the circumstance, but I also believe we have the option to choose for many things in our lives. /end Rant

Pedophilia simply translates as love of children, and in the dictionary I checked it said that pedophilia is "The act or fantasy on the part of an adult of engaging in sexual activity with a child or children." I don't know where you got the number 12, Sivart, but I'm guessing you mean that after that age they are usually in puberty and technically no longer children. In today's modern legal sense, a "child" counts as anyone under 18.
But in WoTland they are allowed to marry at around 16 or so, and even though Perrin was almost twenty at the time, apparently marrying a 15-16 year old was acceptable....so yea. I agree with the title of this Split.

Congrats Kaitlin!

You made me laugh with that onomatopeia (sp?). Marie!
And I make my impression of the "meow" sound when I try to call a cat. Not in front of another person though. =X

And then somebody could just stab him or something.
Now to find this "somebody". :b
*volunteers eagerly* I would love to!

I concur with Laura, too.
And Niklas is also right, if we are talking "realistic" then lots of things are on the list with the Aiel.

Maybe because you don't want to see?
It happened when I said, there was a section from Moghedien's PoV just before Shaidar Haran takes her to Moridin, and there were some questionable comments in Moggy's head, and I read that a reader asked RJ if that meant SH raped her, and he said oh yes.
-
Yea RJ did say Moghedien was raped by Shaidar Haran, after she got the mind trap and before she met Moridin. Maybe he raped Mesaana too after that incident in the Tower where he appears.

I know, but they could have found another way to resolve their conflict with one man instead of killing thousands just to get to him.

Naturally, girls picks the old men so that they can stay home in comfort and have six or seven of his babies.
Uh....that's not comfort, Vertex honey. Pregnancy and birth is the worst natural thing that happens to a woman.
And a lot of grils would rather have hot sex for a few decades with a handsome younger guy than have a rich old fat guy to have sex with. (Unless he is so old you can marry him, not sleep with him, and have like three 22 year old boys to sleep with instead and never have the husband find out. Actually you can do that with a husband of any age, come to think.).

People have gone to war for the death of men. People have gone to war for the death of tyrants. Then is it really that absurd that people would go to war to avenge a beautifull pure thing like a tree that was murdered by the pride and vain of humans?
Yea but this is ONE person that cut down the tree. He is the king, you can't say no to him if he decides to cut it down. They weren't ready to start a full-scale coup and overturn him just for cutting down a tree (otherwise they would have done that ages ago, when their first realized the Damodred dynasty were bad apples). The whole nation of innocents and thousands of other soldiers who came to help didn't deserve to die, not to mention the indirect war deahts caused by famine. And lets not forget, they didn't go straight to Cairhien, I'm sure the books say they hacked their way across Tear to get to Cairhien first or some such!
-
Yea I think Thom is either younger than he is supposed to be, or he is just inhaling steroids through his pipe behind everyone's back. Or maybe he hides them in his moustaches. He had better shave those by the way! I can't stand facial hair. Moiraine needs a feminine man, like Galad or Siuan.
I hope there isn't some crap about Moiraine getting that stilled look of being younger. Because that will just enforce that whole sick point of very young women and old uglier men.

People in WoTland do have different dialects and words. But like Marie said, it all has to be in English (or whatever language the book in translated into abroad) so that readers can enjoy it and only notice a few different words.

Something that confuses me is suicide bombers. I'm right when I say that nowhere in the koran is it said that you become a martyr and come to heaven if you do this yes? It is scary what humans can come to believe.
Actually, suicide bombers are under the belief that they are martyrs, and I think it is mentioned somewhere in the Koran that the reward in heaven is "71 dark-haired virgins" Not kidding at all. That may have been something added later to the Koran or just used by brainwashers, but that's what they think. (Seriously, who needs 71 women? That'd make even Rand faint.)

*giggles* Me thinks the hero means that you are the mighty Olivia hero with nerves of steel and cunning if any self respecting vixen.
But Xena has gorgeous blue eyes and black leather and a cute pillow friend.
-
Yea
Maybe a nice little "Do not cut" sign attached to the trunk, or "Warning: damaging this tree will cause international warfare the likes of which has rarely been seen."
What was this thread supposed to be about anyways *glances at title* We always stray from the main topic.
-
I can't edit my post. I realized I should have put in in the Videos thread. (sorry all!)
And I hit 300 posts! I'm a hero now! (Can I be Xena, please please?!)
-
Yea you're right ....they slaughtered and ravaged nations because one person cut down a tree. As far as we know, I don't think they even talked to the Cairhienin first or anything.
I know that things like that and wars over "honor" have been fought before, both in our world and WoT, but it really is the ultimate idiocy, in my opinion.
-
And in the end, perhaps that's what fantasy is? Really long fairy tales with added soap... and without an underlaying moral message.
Uh...yea Niklas, that IS what fantasy is.
You are supposed to use non-mainstream words and terms, because it's a DIFFERENT world, not our world. If we wanted to read about our world and use our slang terms, why would we read about swords and magic and medeival politics? The different terms give it the feel of another world that you could lose reality in. I don't see how you could have missed the entire point of fantasy.

She was 15? Oh wow, that's worse than I thought. I thought she was 17-18 when she met Perrin.
[Split] Mesaana and the Split of the Tower
in The Books
Posted
It was the resurgence of the Dragon Reborn and the plan made twenty years ago to hide him, coupled with Elaida's powerhunger that split the White Tower.
And as for plans failing, didn't Shaidar Haran show up in one of the recent books and punish her for something?
All of the Forsaken (except Asmodean I suppose) have been sowing the seeds of disruption, she did it through the Black Ajah's control of Elaida. But in light of the others, she hasn't visibly done much that we know of.
