  1. Yea, they just use kind of literal terms for blood relations, instead of cousin and uncle and aunt they use second-sister or father-brother or father-sister. Sometimes I think they are like cavemen, living in caves and speaking weird basic language interspersed with some Old Tongue.

  2. Someone needs to "take him down a peg or three" as Mat once said about Nynaeve.

He does all this sexist crap in his books and then tries to make up for it by making the women bossy and the Aes Sedai manipulative.

  3. *pats Tosh* :( Hope it gets better.

Yea most of RJ's old ugly guy characters that aren't rich find hot young women anyways. Thom has had TWO hot young women besides Moiraine. And I will just bet Moiraine is another miraculously virginal woman who is totally inexperienced with men (like let's see...Nynaeve, Egwene, Elayne, Aviendha, Min, Tuon, Faile...anyone seeing a pattern?) . I am REALLY getting sick of that storyline, really a turn-off.

  4. *giggle* Ceren's idea works for me.

The thing I don't get is how they referred to Thom as being "in his prime" when he was with Morgas....but that was only 15 years ago. And if he is in his 70's, then 55 at the least isn't "prime", no matter how athletic he is.

And Tosh, that pentagram was originally a sign of protection with some spirituality, but like many "pagan" symbols it was assumed to be evil by Christians. :( Sorry I just had to say that, and I didn't mean it to sound bitter, just sharing info.

  5. It did make sense, Laura. And I agree with most of what you said. But as so often with humans, the idea and the essence of good is altered by the people who believe it and enforce it. Many noble ideas have been corrupted, and it's not usually God(s) that converters or atheists disprove of, it's the people that interpret the God's "will" and that claim to worship him/her.

  6. I've read Revelations also. I thought it was some rather interesting mythology (though pretty dark at times) but I can't understand the people that dedicate their lives to looking for signs of its coming or something.

Heh, that line about seeing Death on a horse was my signature for a time, but in English.

  7. It's not that those words haven't been around long enough, it's just that they weren't the terminology of the time epriod Jordan is aiming at, methinks.

Besides, it does sound more fantastical and romantic to use "make love" or "share a bed", and we hear "sex" every day, so it's nice to have a change. Also, the characters in WoT have a very prudish sense of modesty, so they are more lielly to use euphemisms for such things.

  8. Yea you are both right, it is overwhelmingly female. There are only backhanded one-sentence references, such as "maybe he did not like women in that way"(when Faile is captured) or "even the men who had no liking for women were dismissed" (in NS). A lot of WoT caters to males, as do many books.

The only instance of a male/male relationship I came across was in KoD, but it was the merest hint and I am not sure what RJ was getting at.

I didn't notice that part. Where in the book is it?

  9. Poor Vertex :( stab her back.

Thanks for the hug, Laura :) And I was tempted to make a lascivious remark about things that help make a sore throat better. But I restrained my naughty self and decided to suggest cough drops and warm (but not too hot) liquids. ^_^ Hope it gets better soon! :ahug:

  10. She also likes having her neck kissed and being able to nibble on ears. Chocolate and strawberry soda are also a part of the creature's diet.

The pizza was yummy by the way, and I had some of my favorite kiwi-strawberry juice cocktail with lots of ice to go with it.
