Are there any clues yet as to how badly Galad will be beaten? What methods of torture are used? I had an odd thought when reading about the prologue that his too pretty face would be an obvious target. Evil, I know, but it would be an interesting twist for his character if he came out with a couple of teeth missing or a broken nose.
If he's the man in white I'd prefer if Berelain fell for him when hearing about his sacrifice rather than just finding him hot. If he's all bruised when they meet it gets less shallow
Probably he won't fancy her back at first, and perhaps he finds out about her plots with Perrin and dislikes her for that. But Galad is in for a long list of stuff happening to him (OK not that long but we're not used to him actually going through stuff) so perhaps if Berelain is very persistent he'll need some comfort later on. Her normal ways of flirting will probably not work though.

Wait... wisdom teeth are supposed to be pulled out?
I have two, in my lower jaw, but they work just like regular teeth. Nothing wrong with them.
And hi everybody
It seems that Brandon Sanderson made me lose interest altogether in my favourite pair so I've forgot to check back.

Oooor, Momo and Siuan could share Gareth Bryne! He's at least not wrinkled, and this way Siuan and Momo could be together again!
This has come up before, but that was before Sanderson gave us Sexy Bryne. Which also became Boring Bryne (probably was before, but got less time to show it).
Too bad Galad and Moiraine would be wrong on so many levels. xD I don't mind Thom though.
-
Yes, a very good point. xD Blonde Tigraine + Dark Taringail -> Dark Galad. Blonde Morgase + Dark Taringail -> Two strawberry blonde brats. Which is why there are theories that Thom is their real father *dun dun DUN!* Ah, horrible stuff.
-
*Nods* It's obvious now.

Elayne has hardly met Rand so she doesn't know how insane it is to love (fangirl) him
The few brief encounters have been quite productive though.
-
It may just be that I didn't read that actual part of the book because I didn't have it then
And now I'm not that keen on reading more Gawyn than is absolutely necessary.

Stop looking, Brynefan!
I've got the book now
I skipped chapters though, because I couldn't wait for the White Tower stuff. I'll attempt a re-read of the series before the next book to get a better grip on what has happened o.O
Bryne suddenly got a lot sexier through Sanderson. With RJ I never knew what the sparse descriptions truly meant so I was always scared I would be confronted with an overweight, greybearded oldie in the end (I am quite certain that would be the case with RJ actually). He makes sense now too, but Siuan got another layer of not making sense at all. But damn, they got cute, and no more of that strange abusive stuff that made no sense.
So... the content got a bit scrambled but I love the new package.
What was the deal with Egg chastising Siuan for rescuing her and then letting Bryne off the hook completely? If she just did it to chastise Siuan further by embarrassing her then I think it was over the top. After all, they found Egwene alone and passed out in a hallway. Though they countermanded her orders in the first place by going in to get her it was reasonable to take her out of the Tower when finding her in that condition.Egg was a bit like in the middle of a really good dream and Siuan "woke her up" and ruined the fun, so she must have some sort of petty revenge
It's odd that she didn't hold her own general more responsible for his own actions. "Siuan made him do it." Well, how could he let Siuan make him do it then? The rescue left me with a Star Wars feeling. I can't fully explain why though.

I recognize the trollocs from the Dabel Brothers page at least. No clue if that guy got to continue working or not.

I have a hard time believing that there isn't independent prostitution going on, in another name, if not true bordellos.
Wives "thanking" their husbands for a new gift would count as prostitution too under some circumstances. That the idea hadn't struck any of their minds seems like rubbish. There is a lot of rape going on in any case, so Randland (don't shoot me for using that word) is not all clean.
I agree that he screwed up with the courtesans though
Aargh! I'll try to get the book as soon as I can
Now I've read so many Siuan/Gareth spoilers I've almost ruined the excitement, but I'm still curious HOW the scenes will play out.
-
Here's the culprit... er artist behind the EotW art
Damn furr... trollocs
Some of the characters look great, but others disappoint me. Galad, for one. Gareth Bryne would be quite good if it weren't for those horrible eyes.
-
With all those years in the tower she could have had a ton of pillowfriends apart from Mo, but that doesn't seem to be it.
Perhaps Alric was gay too.

And then there is Siuan running away from Bryne like an idiot school girl with a crush. Until Bryne come into the picture Siuan seemed like the type to take a lover and move on when he bored her, but it seems when women fall in love in WoT they become born again virgins.
I'm excited because of The Gathering Storm obviously. I've just read some Siuan and Gareth stuff in The Fires of Heaven (as I've done many times before) and suddenly saw lots of clues that I have missed before. Siuan really is virginal, as opposed to her wannabe tendencies in New Spring, but I wouldn't blame Bryne as much as her "new looks".
The over sexualized chapters in Murandy serve no other point than confronting the characters. That is, Leane, Siuan, Min and Bryne. Leane has fun, Min is just curious and nothing seems to surprise Bryne (obviously). Siuan on the other hand:
Siuan gave a start when she realized that some of the men's suggestions were aimed at her. They did not make her angry - she really could not apply them to herself in her own mind - only startled. She was still not used to the changes in herself. That men might find her attractive..."....
The sign over the door had an improbably voluptuous woman wearing only her hair, arranged to hide as little as possible, astride on a barebacked horse, and a name that she skipped over as soon as she recognized it.
In the next chapter (Bryne's POV) that inn is revealed as "The Good Night's Ride".
Then there's the incident with her blushing for having to show her legs, while she didn't have any problem showing them while riding in NS. But that's another matter.
Now I think I understand why Siuan repeatedly has thoughts of fear and runs away from Bryne. A quote from chapter one of KoD:
No matter what Egwene claimed, she was not in love with Gareth bloody Bryne! She was not! She had too much work in front of her to get caught in that kind of foolishness. That's why you stopped wearing embroidery, I suppose, a small voice whispered in the back of her head. All those pretty things, stuffed into chests because you're afraid. Afraid? Burn her if she was afraid of him or any man!Siuan then proceeds to sabotage Bryne's boots. Probably because she knows it will earn her a spanking later on. *Shakes head* I wonder exactly HOW Siuan came to become attracted to Bryne so fast though. Right when he showed up in Salidar she yelled "You must send him away. Or kill him." I don't know at what point she stopped wearing her prettier dresses either. She wore them well into LoC at least.... perhaps after she was Healed. That makes sense, thinking of her semi-weird scene with Gareth just afterwards, with her breaking down on the floor crying over her dead warder while telling herself she's not in love.
I still have a hard time making THIS Siuan be the same person as NS Siuan. Especially with the pillowfriendship! She has changed a lot, but why?

I read Elaida's new name is Suffa... Is it old RJ's naming skillz again? Like daori xD
On the other hand I'm dying to read chapter 8
Not that anyone cares about these spoilers but...
Just the title of chapter 8 gave it away completely: Clean Shirts! There will be Siuan POVs in abundance and Bryne will have another POV later on!
-
Eeek!
I HAD to click the spoilers and I'm glad I did. I was scaring myself with "Siuan is BA and Gareth dies", even though that's really absurd.
But Sheriam was nearly just as odd O.O
I don't want to buy the hardback! I'll just have to stay clear of unwanted spoilers somehow.

The EotW parody thread made me remember a little gem I found a couple of years ago
The things you find on old Google groups. I thought I had dropped a link earlier, but the forum search says no. Very well, it's Star Wars (the old movies) with WoT characters.
Baa Wars!
Featuring:Obi Wan Kenobi as Moiraine
Luke Skywalker as Rand al'Thor
Chewbacca as Loial
R2-D2 as Perrin Aybara
C-3PO as Mat
Han Solo as Gareth Bryne
Leia as Siuan Sanche
Darth Vader as Ishamael (except in one scene, where he's Lanfear)
Satsujinki as Inoffending Rat #1, #2
Contro as The Jawas - um, Merchants
Uncle Owen as Tam al'Thor
-
You forgot the wrist-thick rods the virginal women seem to stumble upon all the time.
-
I was SCARED when I clicked on play! These teasers are killing me xD Hmm, perhaps not.
I think it sounded a lot like RJ too, but I agree that it could very well look a lot different as text. It probably depends on how finished the notes were.
If it's already done before, I doubt Sanderson will edit it to fit HIS writing style.

That is how Siuan will dance on Elaida

D8 Now I feel bad for never replying to others' birthday threads!
Thank you!
And happy birthday in advance and too late for all of you that I have neglected.
-
Awwwww!
Such a tease to start with the Tower only to go to Rand
-
xD Takes more practise until I get it right. I think I broke Mo's skull there.
-
I'm trying to get a grip on the NS versions of Siuan and Moiraine. Siuan is much easier because her hair covers so much and I don't have to fight to make her look pretty xD That "fight" only messed up Mo, though.
I don't draw women often (at all) and it shows.

But the dilemma is still there: If you save your cake too long you can't eat it!

Bruised AND full of cuts and burn wounds then D: I only read "beaten until he passes out" in a prologue summary and that ought to be really bad alone!
But at least he doesn't think Aes Sedai are automatically darkfriends so he'd allow himself to be healed later. Or perhaps he thinks the right thing to do is to suffer through and let it stay the way it is. Rand saw him with Perrin in some vision and didn't remark on such a thing so I guess he'll be fine enough.
