WHO'S the OTHER old man on the left? Elyas????
Lan looks like an american indian.
Moiraine looks like she's trying NOT to look as drunk as she feels.
Rand looks like he'd rather be a different character.
You know who NEVER gets any love? TAM Al'Thor! That guy is probably sooooo cool and no one ever draws him.

I recently began the Sword of Truth Series. I have to admit I struggle a little with how the man writes. Don't get me wrong, he understands tension. There's just something lighter and less impending in all. It's simpler... more to the point... less complex.... less weirdly historical feeling.
RJ had flaws but DAMN he could build a story, and his payoffs were ALWAYS golden (however more spread out they came after the CoS)
Anyway, the Sword of Truth is good thus far, but with Tolkien and RJ in my mind and mantra..............well I simply have a difficult time comparing. There's love in Goodkinds prose but not the same passion that made WoT and LoTR feel so important.

Aes Sedai and Warders WOOOOO!!!! That whole concept really got me into the series.
I suppose the Aiel make more sense, but I will always love the Aes Sedai............. well, no. The concept. In the end I only liked some of the Aes Sedai. They did that to themselves.

........... @ Tosh- Ewwww.
@ The Auction. Strange. Kind of fun but hardly necessary. I'm just glad to hear there WILL be a Final Battle.
-
I like the shading. Rand's got him some big ears.... and a little sword..... and a confused expression..... oh well, I suppose he was a bit bewildered in the first book.

Oh no! I'm so sorry about Boo, Kate. My thoughts go out to you, your Mom, Happy and Fizzgig. Fizzgig is a pretty name and a nice Dark Crystal reference.
*HUGS of hope*

@ Drina
*Florishing a bow.* We aim to please. Nice Avatar.

I confess I think RJ was shrooming when he decided that Asmodean's killer was immediately obivious.
I confess I didn't like the traveling circus... I just didn't.
I confess I wanted more of Isam. I'm worried he's gonna get glosed over in MOL.
I confess I have more to confess but I'm too tired to continue confessing.

ummmm, Johnny Cash and his boy named Sue.

Hehe How FUN! Okay.......
I confess I miss Asmodean
I confess I was so shaken by the Seanchan collaring Egwene in TGH that I read the next 200 pages to the end THAT NIGHT!
I confess I detest Galina and I didn't like it that RJ made me feel for her.
I confess I don't think the Moiraine/Thom angle has been very well established.
I confess I missed the Trollocs after book 9.
I confess I didn't care for the ambiguity surrounding Sammaels death.
I confess I think Lanfear and Moiraine should have lasted a book or two longer. The story isn't the same without them. (PLUS TFOH was full of BIG Climaxes as it was). It STILL should have happened as it did but the characters had more room yet to grow. Oh well.
I confess I enjoy the Aiel.
I confess I came to enjoy the Seanchan.
I confess I Despise the Seafolk.
COT could've been 400 pages tighter. I confess I would've been FINE with that.

Ummm I loved the TDR. I think The Aiel surrounding the Fades or ANY time Moiraine used Balefire. Ummm (cold pricklys of excitment) Though the realization that Sammael rules Illian and the events leading up to that always stay most vividly in my mind.

Nice job Drina! Oh and a merry welcome to the site! You should talk to Moiraine about posting it in the art section here! I need to draw more.

Happy New Year!!! Let the fireworks blaze, the drunk people (meaning everyone) sing, and may the harp strings strum a merry tune to the goodbyes of 2008, a year of extremes. Let us rejoice then in the possibilities of our new born year! And ONWARD!

^Wonders as to the secrets behind Tosh's humor.
< Is well versed in the random and the hilariously mundane.
V Has recently had bacon grease spit from a pan into their eye and surprised themselves by running away from the kitchen!
-
I dunno, actually what Tosh said. Kate Winslet probably does look a lot like the comic Moiraine.
I'm Asmo.

Oooo, this sounds fun. I'm always got an opinion on casting. Hmmmm.
I see.... (and this is just me)
Cadsuane- as Meryl Streep or maybe Carrie Anne Moss
Moiraine- Everyone seems to REALLY differ on her. I don't mind the Rachel Weisz possibility, though Kate Winslet makes an interesting choice. So too does Kate Beckinsale.
Nynaeve- Rachel McAdams has always been my mental pic.
Egwene- Rose Byrne or Emmy Rossum
Rand- After seeing the Dark Knight I feel Heath Ledger would've been a good choice. Handsome and tormented. RIP
Elayne- Simone Simons is a Dutch Metal Singer, but she makes me think Elayne (I have no idea if she can act, but she looks right) If not her maybe Isla Fisher? She's not really tall enough though.
Morgase or Elaida- Michelle Pfeiffer
Faile- Camilla Belle (someone said that once and it changed my whole opinion of the character)
Min- Rachel Leigh Cook
Bryne- Clive Owen
Galad- Orlando Bloom
Gawyn- James McAvory
Lan- Gerard Butler
Tuan- Jada Pincket Smith
Marton Csokas- Dain Bornhold
I sometimes think Crazy big super star types would be interesting as the Forsaken. Just a thought.
Lanfear- Catherine Zeta Jones
Ishamael- Mel Gibson
Rahvin- Colin Farrell (That JUST popped into me head)
Sammael- Russel Crowe
Graendal- Kim Cattrall
Aginor or Be'lal- Patrick Stewart
Asmodean- Johnny Depp
Demandred- Christian Bale (maybe)
Osangar- Toby Jones (He played Karl Rove in W.)
Aran'gar- Angelina Jolie
Moghedien- Eva Green
Mordin- Guy Pierce OR Tom Crazy Cruise
Semirhage- THINKING
Mesaana- Tina Fey

Oooo, And I'll bring the popcorn!

I'm really confused about what you celebrate on Thanksgiving. The whole pilgrims and indians story I've heard seems like rather blatant fabrication.
I can't speak to the pilgrims story.... as I wasn't there, but while that's the origin story, Thanksgiving (at least for me) besides being an excuse to eat an absurd amount of food, is a reflective time to look back on the year and consider why we're glad to be here, what we've learned etc. At least that's how we celebrate it in my family. It's nice.... and it smells yummy.

Yeah, but even some characters wouldn't be greatly missed.
That reminds me. Hurin, an awesome little character who stuck to Rand like glue in TGH. Disappears at the begining of TDR. That always annoyed me that he never came back. He was just a plucky fun loyal dude who helped Rand a lot before his emperor of the world days. Ode to the forgotten.

Oh snap, VERY tedious! There were some bits however that made up for the price of admission.
I enjoyed-
Every groups reaction to the blazing Saidar beacon.
The humbling of Messana! (BEST PART, for my money)
And all of Perrin and Egwene. Egwene in particular since she was in like two pages of Wintersheart.
Most of the rest was everybody pacing in frustration..... which is what we're doing by the middle of it. RJ makes up for it (for the most part) with KoD.
Semi really gets to go all out as the Mistress of Pain. Though Arangar keeps busy too.
-
What part of CoT? That was a long read for me. Though there were parts that I found quite good.
-
SoT was the next series I was going to read.
I do think if they approached WoT in a TV series they'd be more likely to be able to do it justice. I imagine some plot threads would be axed (with Balefire) but as long as the main characters are on hand a represented... yeah it would probably be good.

WoooWhoo! Shadow Rising is my favorite! All the build of the 1st three, with no turtle shell of the second to last. Hmmm, What does that sentence mean????
