Nynaeve is alot more anoying then Moiraine! She lies to make herself seem better, she thinks she is better then everybody else, she is mean to Moiraine mostly because she is jealous of her and she is ALWAYS angry.

Moiraine was jealous of Nynaeve too. Moiraine has a temper (they tried to train it out of her in the WT), and doesn't seem like she's going to give up the noblehood any day soon. I'd say, she's about 23% more mild than Nynaeve.

Maybe we could pool our resources and do a joint venture sometime then! ;)

Yay! That would be so much fun. ;)

I agree with everything in this thread about Momo' date=' even if it contradicts each other... because Momo's a study in contrasts too... ;)

Nyn, however, is [i']the[/i] case study on that and she doesn't even have any idea. That's what makes her so funny and likable. Oh! I mean, that's what makes her so unfunny and unlikable. *still hating Nyn*

a close one...

HA so true. Thank the Light those years are over.

And I agree with those that think Nynaeve is NOT Moiraine Jr.

Moiraine is all about giving up personal pleasures and loves and sacrificing everything for the good of the world.

She can be quoted several times as saying "I have dedicated my life to the Dragon Reborn' and she was even willing to give up her life (or so she thought) to save him.

Nynaeve's main concern throughout the books has been to protect her people, the Emond's Fielders, and she chose the Yellow Ajah because all she wants in life is to heal the sick and wounded. She believes there should be a cure for everything, and she takes death as a personal failure. Also, she in deeply in love with Lan and wants to have his children and live happily ever after, blah blah.

Moiraine has put aside love and marriage until her quest is complete.

If anyone can be called a Moiraine Jr. I think it would be Rand (though only in the sense that he has desensitized himself from the rest of humanity and has learned through her teaching to calculate and manipulate) or maybe even Egwene, who takes her role as Amyrlin far more seriously than the people who gave her the title.

Honestly, I used to hate Nynaeve. Really, I did. But there comes a time when you can't let love blind ya. You say Egwene is like Moiraine...that to me is a worse compliment then saying Elayne is like Moiraine. Besides, Egghead isn't that different from Nynaeve.

Eggy raised two people up to the shawl because they were her friends, and then made sure to raise two others so no one would be the wiser. She's pigheaded, a know-it-all, and takes herself too seriously. Which, now that I think about it, does sound a bit like Moiraine.

Fact is, people usually hate those that remind them of themselves. Which fits Moiraine/Nynaeve to a tee.

Well lets look at it this wasy, most aes sedai are similiar in some ways, because of the way they were trained, so lets just blame any similarities on tower training.

Yes...but Nynaeve was never really trained in the Tower. She spent a few months there, but I would hardly call it 'intensive' training.

Vertex boys says that Marie is right and that they (Moiraine and Nynaeve) are very much alike, except for their background... though, Nynaeve was kinda Queen ruler of the village and Moiraine was brought up to be one for a nation.

Anyway I think RJ defines characters rather by actions performed then character traits, so they are all pretty much alike. Everyone is awstruk by what Rand does and almost everyone has lots of knives up their sleaves.

I think a difference between Moiraine and Nynaeve is that the first looks at the entire picture as much as she can (big and small.. but closer to what's good for the world more than what's good for each and every person), and the second tends to look more at the smaller. Neither is bad, really. Nynaeve concerns herself with individual life and it's preciousness and that's very important for Rand (who is another big picture person now).
