Monarchy of Cairhien

There don't seem to be any republics in the WoT world. They are still at that point in history where they are governed by a monarch or a monarch and a council or nobles/aristocrats.

Andor, Cairhien, Saldea, Kandor, Arafel, Shienar, Arad Doman, Altara, and Amadicia are all governed by a single ruler (though arguably Amadicia is governed by the Whitecloaks).

Illian has a King, but also an Assembly of aristocrats that help pass laws, etc.

Tarabon also has a king and an assembly, but also a Panarch (wtf?) who has legislative/executive powers.

Both Tear and the city of Far Madding (and Murandy in a way) are ruled by an oligarchy, or council/assortment of nobles.

 

So getting back to the point, there are no republics currently (except perhaps the Two Rivers or other vilalge communities, but those are too small to judge the larger nations by), but with the next Breaking after the Last Battle, new nations may arise along with new forms of government, so we might not need to worry about who gets the throne of Cairhien.

Yes, I was thinking that maybe everything will be totally shifted with the 2nd breaking...as it was with the first...and as WoT is becoming more and more like our world (what with technology advancing)...so maybe the old form of governments will be gone and in its place a modern, spiffy democratic government.

I still don't see democracy happening any time soon, but after the breaking Carhien become a new nation just like in the breaking

OK...but the topic is the ruler of Cairhien. Another Breaking won't happen until after the Last Battle (if even) and it needs a ruler in the midterm.

Just that I don't think Moiraine is a very good idea as a ruler. I don't think she'd make a good queen. She just wants to set up house with Thom and have ugly babies...
