Yeah, the Disneyfying completely sucks. Not only that but Lan looks like he's actually smirking and doesn't have his eyes down at all. RJ didn't do a ton of reverse gender stereotyping and they have to mess up the bit that was there?

 

If Moiraine won't be looking right I will have to go back to fan Momo with head in pot to soothe the pain.

Anyway! I find myself...liking Red Eage right now. I sent an email to DB Pro last week and heard nothing back...so I sent an email to Red Eagle and Larry forwarded a note onto Les.

 

Dear Les,

 

 

 

In the past two days, I have received three e-mails from exasperated New

Spring subscribers who have tried to contact DB Pro (two of them repeatedly)

about their New Spring subscriptions, but have heard nothing back. For your

convenience, I have attached each of their e-mails to this note. Given that

we are only one week away from the date DB Pro publicly announced that Issue

No. 6 will "hit" the stores, they are understandably concerned that the lack

of any reply from DB Pro may mean they will not receive their comics in a

timely manner.

 

 

 

I can personally vouch that these subscribers have been good customers of

Red Eagle Entertainment. Goodness knows how or why, but these subscribers

have been extremely patient these past years while waiting for the

conclusion of the New Spring comic. (yes I have, thank you!)I know that you are very busy, but I

ask you to please give each of them the courtesy of a prompt and personal

reply.

DB is pretty hellacious about responding to their customers. Their own forums are filled with pissed off customers wanting some kind of response from them about any number of things. I hope Red Eagle refunds you if DB doesn't come through again.

This blog entry describes an author's relationship with DB Pro. At this point I no longer can say I have any real sympathy for DB in regards to what went down with REE.

 

I just sent an email (again!) to Les and Ernst about my comics. UGH. This is so bad. I am not purchasing a sub for the WoT comics; from now on I'll buy them the week they are released because that is the only way I'll probably know I'll get them.

So my copy of #6 arrived today, even though the thing supposedly came out in April. Since no one else has commented, I'll share my thoughts.

 

I have to say I was not completely disappointed with the artwork (the changes from the book yes, but not the artwork). It wasn't as good as the art from the first 4.5 issues, but it has its moments. Moiraine and Siuan don't look too bad, and we get a few good face shots of them - including one where Moiraine lays a gloved hand on Siuan's cheek! *squee* Since they edited out the kiss that should have happened in #5, I'll have to settle for little scraps like this.

 

I don't like Cadsuane, but she also gets some good face shots, and she looks pretty much like what the original promo sketches for the comics promised. Though there is one very small box where she is circling Moiraine and it looks like she's contemplating some surprise buttsecks on our little heroine. And she has creepy-ass fingers. Other weirdness includes Siuan having long-ass harpy nails in one shot and another few panels of her wearing an Accepted's dress even after she became Aes Sedai. O_O And there's a rather jarring panel of Moiraine imagining Tamra being tortured.

 

So, all in all, it could have been a lot better, but it could have been a lot worse. Looking forward to #7.

Cadsuane's fingers were indeed mega creepy. It looked like she had shoots of bamboo extending from knuckle-up.

I thought they did a good job on Siuan but with Moiraine it was hit or miss. Like, some of the images of her were really good and others were really not. I also liked the art in the older comics more.

Cadsuane's fingers were indeed mega creepy. It looked like she had shoots of bamboo extending from knuckle-up.

 

 

Haha yeah, I thought she had an extra joint or something on each finger before I realized that it's actually her two hands steepled together and the angle just makes it look weird. I still think she wanted to jump Moiraine, though.

Aha, now that you mention it, it's easy to see they're her two hands! Phew... I thought it was some other creepiness

I liked the art.

 

I was happy with Caddy. She looks like the way she's supposed to in the books. Aes Sedai face, bun o' might, little ornaments sticking out all over.

 

The way she was drawn with her fingers steepled like that was weird. She had them steepled but her hands where out to the side of her instead of right in the middle. I've never seen anyone steeple their fingers together but way off to one side of their body.

 

Pretty Mo. Scrunched up on the edge of the bed with snoring merchant near. Fearing Cadsuane and dropping tea. Yay.

Siuan in the Accepted's dress... yea the artist must not have been paying attention to who wears that!

I found that part kind of jarring. Apparently showing someone's body and face twisting in agony as they are tortured to death is just fine... but OH NO we definitely can't have Mo and Siuan kiss like they did in the novel, or have the Kandori innkeeper be her normal fiery self... because that would just be wrong. Stupid publishers.

And what's weirder is that in some panels Siuan's Accepted dress has the striped cuffs... and in others it is plain white, like she is a novice. You're right, artist definitely not paying attention.

anyone notice that in a lot of the shots she had black hair and then she randomly had brown hair in others?

 

Lan's art was good and i also liked Cadsuane's. and Olivia youre right she did look like she was going to jump her, steepled fingers or not! I think that shot of her with Cadsuane's steepled hands was the only good one of Mo in that scene though.

 

kaitlin you're right that one shot of her in the bed was really pretty.

I know, you're right. If I start talking about it I'm gonna be up on a soapbox, but basically it's all good to degrade women in comics and mainstream media but god forbid they do anything violent themselves or two people with the same parts kiss. Our childrenzz heads would exploded.

 

and @ Second Olivia That does sort of look like two different artists there, but also the second one looks like he was drawing her face from down below it, so he made the features look different. It's hard to say? It does look like he was copying Mike S. Miller's style, maybe so it would fit in with the other comics? I sort of like Momo with dark brown hair but black is pretty too!
