Let's get in the spirit (at the last minute, I know) and say what we think the characters would give each other as gifts.

Hmm good question!

 

I think Nynaeve would get some small thing that was useful for Lan, but she'd fuss a lot over it and be nervous, while he would get her something that showed his rare romantic side, like gorgeous flowers or a gem that brought out her eyes. Elayne would visibly fret over what to get Avi, but would settle for something extremely wetlanderish - like a horse or pretty new dresses. She would get Birgitte new lion-headed golden spurs (like the ones she wore in WH) and matching tack for her horse. Avi would give Birgy a spacious but inconspicuous hip flask for her to store brandy in for those long hours buried in paperwork, and deliver it with some crude joke scrawled across the wrapping paper.

 

Rand would take the opportunity of the approach of a gift-giving day to lapse into one of his depressions, whining inside and agreeing with the dead man that he has no friends to give presents to, and does not deserve to have three beautiful women to give presents to because they will just die for being around him.

 

Mat would give Tuon a very thoughtful and pleasing gift, but somehow manage to put his foot in his mouth yet again with her. Tuon would hiss that gift giving in early days of winter, coupled with the pattern of frost on the windows, portends grave misfortune and then she'd make strange gestures that vaguely resemble obscene propositions.

 

Faile would get Perrin an even tigher collar than the one already installed, and when he says "Thank you" Faile would assume this meant he was sleeping with another woman; and instead of talking about her problems she would just ignore him and be a bitch.

 

Egwene would send Elayne some flowery card with an imperious demand written at the bottom like "P.S., get your crap together and come help me in Tar Valon". Then Egwene would Travel to Gawyn and give him a dirty experience that left him sore and weeping.

 

Thom would give Mat some advice about how to handle women in a confident and romantic manner, and yet 5 minutes later he'd be staring lovestruck at Moiraine and composing love ballads, as well as performing cute little juggling tricks and jokes. Moiraine would get Thom something unique and complicated, but would not put her name on the box and instead just leave it at his doorstep or under his pillow. Or maybe she could devise some elaborate clue hunt that eventually led to his real present: her.

 

In a small font so Marie can ignroe if she wants. Siuan would give Moiraine an unforgettable night that would leave both grinning with the afterglow for at least 2 weeks.

Siuan would get her closest friends a fish, or a small knife that either had a fish carving on the handle, or is used for descaling fish. If not that - something practical like soap (on a rope?) or a boot fitter. It would come wrapped in the paper or bag she bought it in. *giggle*

 

Moiraine would get very expensive small gifts tastefully picked out with each person in mind, and these would make everyone else feel inferior about their own gift-giving skills. The wrapping would be extremely well done with hand written sentiments on very expensive paper folded on top and attached with a silk ribbon (The paper folding would include a knife line on the inside, so that the fold would be exceptionally crisp). It would be difficult for them to allow themselves to feel too annoyed at her though, because the sentiments would be brief, true, and not sugary, and the gifts would be just what they never knew they needed.

 

Elayne would be a bit like Momo, but rather than focusing on what each person might really like (or didn't know they wanted) she'd go for highly expensive and beautiful items that the person may or may not want. She'd get someone else to wrap, and I bet the wrapping would all be done in Andoran colors.

 

Lan would not buy gifts for any but Nyn, Rand, and Mo. He'd spend a lot of time mulling over just what to get. Each thing he picked out would have meaning to the person he gave it to, and they would all love his pressies. He'd probably just wrap things in a cloth.

 

Mat would find out that everyone had to get each other pressies, and at the last minute he would rush around like mad trying to get stuff, except for Tuon's pressie.. which would be very nice and make her try hard not to act nice to him because of it. All of his pressies would become useful just in the nick of time for everyone at some point later. He wouldn't really wrap, but just hand people stuff.

 

Thom would just worry about a few people. He might get Elayne something pretty, and maybe just give Rand a talking to and consider that his gift. Whatever he got Momo.. they'd both be a little hoarse the next morning. *evil*

I just got home from doing my christmas shopping. So many people..So much stupidity, all in one fucking place. Curse them.

 

Rand will give Min a pair of invisible pants.

 

Thom will compose a lovesong for Moiraine but will get slapped because Mo is into Metal now after her stay at the tower of Genjei.

 

Rand will give Elayne the sun throne and a bunch of Aes Sedai slaves that will do all her work for her.

 

Then Aviendha will get something small and sentimental but will be overjoyed because she isn't so bloody materialistic.

 

Faile will be a saldaean farmgirl! In a cake.

 

Mat will get pink ribbons. And he will secretly like it.
