The Moiraine Love <3 Thread

Recommended Posts

The why you are a fan of Momo thread. This may be a spoiler area for people who didn't read every book.

I loved Moiraine teaching Egghead how to channel, and then catching Rand spying on them. And also she made a very straight line of fog in that book.

Oh wow, difficult question! There was just something about Moiraine that got me from EoTW. Maybe it was her being in perfect control...

It was only when she died that it completely hit me how much I liked her, and with every book I read thereafter, it was, "Is she coming back in this one? Give me a hint she's not dead!"

But I'm going to think about specific moments. I can think of a couple of times I did NOT like her, but that's off topic

Oh yes, I can think of several times I didn't like her too.

It was sad that she sacrificed herself, but more than that I admired the fact that she practiced what she preached - what with being so firm in her beliefs before and things. She expected Rand to give over his life to what he had to become, but then she had to give over her life to save him. It made her authentic. Of course, it would have been nice if she'd showed authenticity in another way that didn't keep her out of the books, but no other way would have been quite the same. :'(

She drew that fog line very straight. But she didn't use a pen to do it, like you may have thought.

Moiraine is something of an antihero in WoT. She manipulates, she threatens and she even kills to achieve what needs to be achieved, and she does all this while keeping her poise.

Basically shes an Aes Sedai in the way Aes Sedai where supposed to be, not the jabbering bints who just happened to be able to throw fireballs that we have now wiht the later books.

I always liked Moiraine because she had this 'I'll do what I want and to hell with you farmyard idiots' attitude in the first book but I think it was when she sacrificed herself I realised just how great a character she was

In a way I wish there was a television series of the time between New Spring and EotW. It could focus on searching for the boy. There could be assassins and DFs going after Lan and Mo both at different points. More Black Ajah. We could see what happened with the Green Man the first time.

Someone unknown could play Moiraine.

Or it could be animated. But they might make it CGI way too much and then that'd suck hairy monkey feet. Yes, live is better. *edits again* It could be a fantasy series that doesn't focus on Camp or even the fantasy aspect. It'd be a cross genre of Drama/Onward searching type of show like Without a Trace sort of/Fantasy/Action...um, meh. I don't know what else is on tv.

Yes, I do fangirl Moiraine as much as ever. :P

Ok, well, I feel in love with Moiraine because a) she wasn't from Emond's Field and B) because she seemed a bit of an outcast, probably because of the first point.

She's a pretty princess and I'm shallow.

Even if she doesn't know what she is doing, she pretends she does.

She's pretty and rich.

She can channel and back in the day, Aes Sedai used to be awesome. :P
