It doesn't fit that well into this day perhaps. If you only had rotten potatoes to eat every day and got a cake I'm sure you'd want to eat it AND keep it xD Link to post Share on other sites

If you have it, clearly you haven't eaten it. The original saying made that more clear, well, more clear if you speak old English. wolde you bothe eate your cake, and have your cake? Oh wait, did Olivia already state that? Oh well whatever! But I still think it makes perfect sense. Yes of course I want to eat my cake, but I can't then complain that I longer have any cake later.
