What Rand Could Do For You

Awkward thread title...but! We all know MW is pretty anti-Rand at times, so I was wondering: what could Rand do to make you like him (or if you already kind of like him, love him)?

I don't think it is Rand's fault as such. It's just very hard being a Mary Sue, especially if you are a redhead. I mean, Anne of Green Gables has already been there and done all that, and she was cute about it. Rand is not the least bit cute.

Hmmm, I would've liked Rand much better if he had just killed Lanfear (like any reasonable hero-savior of the world-eight-year-old would) and spared Moiraine of all the trouble.

 

Oh yes, and I don't like the idea of his little harem.

I mean, three women?! Why not six, so Lews Therin can have his own little pack. xD

Yeah, for me it's mainly his claim to be in love with three people at once, each one no more or less than the other two, that irritates me. His other annoying qualities can either be chalked up to Mary Sue-ness (like Vertex mentioned) or to the extreme pressure he's living under as the Dragon Reborn.

But at the end of the latest book out...Rand seems to have changed, for the better (hopefully). If so...if he's finally learned to lighten up. My opinion may change of him .

I also enjoy Ms. Anne Shirley much more than Rand.

 

I find Rand tolerable, to be honest. He's definitely not a favorite, but I don't totally dislike him. I find him lukewarm.

I agree with Vertex and Olivia. It's hard work being a Mary Sue and having a harem. *agrees with Aleyna too*

 

If he gave Moiraine a hug and then listened to her political advice I might like him a little bit more.

Honestly, I am still sad about the Eg/Rand thing from the beginning. Not sure if I liked it more than his harem or less, but it makes me sad that those two will probably almost explode each other next time they meet.
