I've been thinking about all I know of Ishamael in all his forms and under all his names, and I can't help but wonder, is Ishy evil, insane, both, or very, very, very human-interest driven.

He states that the Dragon and he have fought many times before, which I'm inclined to believe slightly, seeing as he's as powerful as Lews Therin, if not moreso than Rand himself. He also implies that the Dragon and himself switch roles occasionally, and sometimes are on the same side, either Light or Dark. He directly says Dark, but from what history seems to show both sides have played in order for their to be the 'order' of the Wheel and Pattern.

Does Ishy really want the DO to win and therefore end this order which ensures himself such a role? Or less selfish reasoning, does he want either Divine power to have so much control over humanity, and merely plays along to keep this balance?

I know this stuff is largely hypothetical and almost completely reliant on the word of a Forsaken, but remember, he's the oddball Forsaken.:P

That's an interesting theory. You are right; Ishy is so damn crazy it's hard to know what's going on inside his head.

I do think Ishy is more concerned about himself and his own goals then he is about the Dark One winning, which would fit in nicely with what you've thought up.

Hmm, yes. I always thought that Ishy was just messing with Rand by indicating that the Dragon played on the other side of the fence during some lives.

He's really insano, but he thinks he's smarter than anyone else. He's like the typical serial killer, only all magnified and things.

I'v always though Ishy was absolutely crazy. Even the other forsaken mention his insanity. Of course I suppose it is possible that the dragon could have fought on the dark ones side at some point, but I don't understand how Ishy would have known about it

I do not know if this is concidered offtopic but I've always wondered. Who svaes Rand in book seven? When both balefires touch and there is this loud band. I've always wondered if this was Ishy and the One power and the True Power touched each other.

Why?:)

I don't believe all the actions of Ishy to be those of a madman .... though that's what they seem. He is not completely sane .. his rabid streaks clearly indicate on the contrary. But he has been working many plots and they are moving inexorably to the one conclusion he has planned for them.

He also knows how the bore was sealed .... I mean the way in which the seal was constructed. That's why he could move about in this world for small periods of time when the rest were in that dreamless sleep. I believe the DO knows this and it is the reason why he is the most powerful among all the chosen.

He has put all the necessary info about it in his book 'The disassembly of reason'. Herid Fel figured it out and was taken out before he could tell it to rand. Now its upto min.
