Breaking:RJ has passed :(

Recommended Posts

I'm actually quite heartbroken to be honest. :D This man's world has been a part of my life since I was a freshman in high school. No writer has ever touched me the way he did. The fact that Eye of the World is still one of my favorite books and Moiraine my all time favorite literary character, even after all the novels and stories I've had to read since starting the series, says something I think.

*sighs*

Wow, just wow.

Robert Jordan, may you shelter in the Creator's hand until your rebirth - if anyone deserves another life, it's you. I was a latecomer to the series, but I was instantly hooked on WoT, and even before seeing him in the flesh I could tell through his writing that he was a good man. In particular, the way he made a dedication to his wife at the beginning of each book was always touching to me.

This is so sad. I know that I moaned and groaned about RJ all the time, but he was the one author who got me not just interested in fantasy, but also enough to want to write my own (there's an acknowledgement to him in my first book!). The Eye of the World, The Great Hunt and [i forget the name of the third... Dragon Reborn?] are among my favourite books. Yesterday was not a nice day at all. My grandfather passed away too. :D

Sorry if this sounds callous and all but thank god Harriets going to complete the book. Otherwise I would be sliightly irked, and a bit amused. Althought I didn't get if they have actually decided to finish the book or if they haven't decided yet.

Too bad he died though, he was a good writer and those are hard to come by.

Sorry about your Grandfather Jan. :D

Oh no. This is heart breaking. The light illuminate you Robert Jordan. May your Ta'veren threads find their way to a much deserved rest. For all, and from all who's lives he touched by simply imagining people and a world who are so very real in our hearts. Our love and gratitude in this age and ages to come. The Wheel Weaves as the Wheel Wills.

I haven't been keeping up with RJ's blog, but I am obviously now curious about all that I missed. His cousin said this a little over a week ago:

Yes he is continuing to work through all of this medical calamity. MOL is going into the word processor and onto audio tapes almost daily. Not every day mind you, because the medical fight takes first priority. But, he told you he’d finish and he will. Fact is that it has been finished in his head for years. During a recent family sit around, he became the Gleeman and told the bones of it ALL to Harriet and me. You read that right, I did say ALL. Don’t ask, ain’t telling. Two and a half hours of story telling by the Creator himself went by in the twinkling of an eye. Truly magical. All I can say is WOW! Best stuff he’s ever done. MOL is going to knock your socks off! That’s a promise.

So, the last book will likely come out at some point in the future. Bittersweet, but at least he finished his masterpiece.
