sooo... what is WoT's charm then? The exciting battle descriptions? Rand's hilarious split personality? Or perhaps the way women folds their arms or drink tea? Might it be the intricate politics or the extreamly powerful magic super powers?

Mainly it annoys me because I just think it is unrealistic and borderline disgusting to have relationships like that in the WoT world. If the books took place in a darker world there wouldn't really be a problem, because relationships wouldn't have to have anything to do about love or even a liking between two people. You would be able to portray how a relationship such as the Thom/Dena one would be like and it would fit, because people are shit.

 

But In the WoT world? Where the rivers are made of chocolate syrup and bunnyrabbits shit edible gold to help the homeless? RJ wrote the Thom/Dena relationship as if it wasn't just about an old bastard getting to put his paws on a young piece of thighmeat and the woman allowing this to make the old man let her get her hands on some of that wacky tobacky she so yearns for.

 

No, in the WoT they love eachother. No matter how stupid the mere thought of two people with such an age gap between them and such different lifestyles having anything at all to offer one another in a relationship or having anything about them that would appeal to the other so strongly as to bridge all their astronomical differences and sow the seeds of love.

Yeah like Mat/Tuon, Rand/Elayne, Thoma/Dena, Thom/Morgase, Gawyn/Egwene, Perrin/Faile, Gareth/Siuan, and others I am too sleepy to think of atm. Even with couples that are similar in age, the female is always a virgin and the male is always two to three years older (except Min and Morgase/Tallanvor). RJ was a bit of an oyaji.

 

Lan/Nynaeve bothered me the most. Gag me with a spoon.
