My daughter is named Moiraine. She was able to RJ at the San Diego ComicCon a few years back.

Anyone else out there named your child/children after a WoT chacter?

I don't have any children but Moiraine is definitely a great name! I went to that ComicCon at San Diego too to hear RJ speak. It was great.

And welcome to MW!

It would have been great to see RJ in person. Was he surprised by your daughter's name?

Moiraine is a pretty name. I'm not sure what I'd name my own children if I ever had them. It'd be a cute name for a pet little songbird if I had one. *has thought of it* I would name a goat after Rand. *armfold* :o

Oh, and welcome!!

He was a little surprized. He spent a few moments with us to tell the story of a woman and infant he met a a book signing. She told him she had name her boy after him. His wife (as always) was right there with him. He said as he started to feel uncomfortable at the news Harriet whispered in his ear "dont worry I know where you were 9 months ago.

To mine and my wife's surprized while walking through the Con RJ saw Moiraine from about 15 feet away waved and said "Hello Moiraine". He was a sweet gentleman.

On a side note one of the authors who was doing a panel and book signing along side of RJ at the Con, a fellow named Jim Butcher, was pretty much being ignored by everyone has now become one of my family's favorite authors. When we met Jim at a different signing I told him I was sorry for my rudeness at the San Diego Comic-Con. He laughed and said he would have ignored himself too.

If you are looking for some good urban fantasy, I highly recomend Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series of books.

Well, Moiraine is a pretty name *admits* I never thought about it, but in the unlikely event I do have any kids, I may pick out a name from WoT. Ooh, I could even pick out a name for my books from WoT!

(And hello to Gravesbane. A couple of new members since I've been away, i see!)
