Hurin. Yeah he could "smell" violence and also the Dark One's taint and other kind's of evil. Don't think we've heard of him (or another person like him) since book 3. Who knows though, he could make a guest star appearance in AMoL!

That could be a pretty intresting use for him ... but will he be able to smell them ? If I remember right, he could smell the trollocs because of the stench left by their destruction and violence. May be he can smell the particularly violent ones ?

From what I remember about sniffing he could trace a person if they done something wrong, but the trail would grow cold after a certain length of time, depending on how evil the act was
