Least Favorite Character and Why

The why is very important, since usually we just mouth off about Rand. As I'm rereading the series I find who I like and dislike changing (if only slightly) and my reasons for such becoming more solid. I'll have to think a bit harder to decided who is my least favorite character.

My least favorite?

 

Nynaeve. I disliked her from the start. At first her head was too big for it's own good, her motivations were more of a revenge issue at being overruled than actually even being for her "people." And later she just became... well, boring. And yellow. I dislike that color.

My least favourite is Mazrim Taim. Purely for the "Kneel, Aes Sedai, or you will be knelt,"

My least favorite is probably Cadsuane. All she does is barge into every corner of the world and try and take control of matters. She is flat-out rude and mean, not a likable character at all. She has no friends, romantic interests, or connections she didn't make through manipulation (Sorilea is the only exception to friend/connection but she is another huge bitch), and has no purpose other than to annoy and fulfill this mysterious viewing of Min's; all these make her an extremely boring character.

I don't understand why the WoT people put up with her....especially Rand. I'm not particularly fond of him either, but why is there such a contradiction: he is suspicious and almost hateful of all Aes Sedai and yet he is afraid of Cadsuane. He (or one of his sensible followers with the brains to be able to hurt women) should have killed her by now; she is too big a threat and an interference.

The characters all go on about how "strong" she is, but I don't see how they get strong from "bossy" manipulative" and "tricksy". She is strong in the Power, yes, but so what? She doesn't use the Power as her primary tool, she just bullies people with pointing and glares (and they are idiots for doing what she says).

I hope she has a spectacular and grisly death at the hands of some Shadowspawn at the Last Battle.

I don't like Logain, or Alanna... though I hate Alanna less because I think she was either out of her mind when she bonded Rand, or was being compelled by Verin.

 

I hate people that try to force themselves on others, and that's all there is to it.

I have to say my least favorite is probably Egwene. I like her even less than I like Rand. I'm a little over half-way through with Lord of Chaos, but I have yet to find myself hating Rand. His little village sweetheart is another story.

 

I've never liked her "I must know everything" mindset. She looks down on others if they don't behave just so, yet gives herself excuses for her lying (about being Aes Sedai, dreamwalking without permission) and belittling her friends (Nynaeve and Elayne) in order to prevent them from blowing her cover. She even looks down on people based on the dreams they have. As if anyone has control over the way their mind wanders in sleep.

 

Elayne/Min are also up there in the "me-no-like" list. Elayne actually thinks the world revolves around her. Those Seanchan hounds were after Nynaeve, but Elayne is so wrapped in herself that she just assumes they were trying to get of Nynaeve to get to her. She has no problem bragging about her little "discoveries" and gets rather upset over not being in charge over everyone. In her defense, she is a noble. Elayne and Min annoy me with their Rand al'Thor crap. Maybe I have to be in love to understand the stupidity of it. Min always complaining about what Rand "did" to her. He didn't make her follow him, or change the way she dresses or does her hair. If she would just admit to being an idiot - even if only to herself - I might forgive her.

I've always hated Nynaeve. She is childish, anoying, and doesn't like Moiraine. I think the Womens circle in Emondsfield only made her the wisdom because she was good at helping sick people and then she started thinking that it was because she was wise and mature and stuff. A lot of times she thinks she should punish people who act badly and then she does exactly the same thing.

 

I always thought that I would never hate a caracter more than her but now I do. My least favorite caracter is... ...CADSUANE. If she was realy good at manipulating people she wouldn't have to insult them all the time. The only thing she has ever done in the books is beeing rude and bossy.

I dislike Mat. I find him immature and irresponsible and always whinning. I know that he is one of the most popular characters in the series, and I can't imagine why!

Because he's a ladies' man and dislikes Aes Sedai! That's a hero in the eyes of Wotmaniacs.

 

Nynaeve I used to hate, but I don't anymore - Elayne took her place. However, if she returns to acting the fool when Momo comes back..well...I'll start hating her again.

Nyn and Mo might actually end up getting along at some point in the future. Nyn just had a lot of sexual jealousy.

 

I also hate Scratch the Cat, because the wotmaniacs are weird over the whole subject.

You mean there's a subject Wotmaniac's aren't weird over? The place is worse than Dragonmount now. *shakes head*

 

I suppose how well Nynaeve and Moiraine get along would depend on how Lan acts towards Moiraine. I'm doubtful the two could ever be friends, but then, if Nynaeve can be "friends" with Elayne I don't see why not.
