Scenes with emotional impact (Spoilers!)

Recommended Posts

Something that really got to me the first time I read the series was the part about Egwene getting collared, and just her encounters with the other damane. She wasn't my favorite character (ever), but in a way it had more of an impact for me to read about her struggles even though I didn't even have that much empathy for her from the start.

I don't feel the same way now when I read through bits of the book... now I just skim and feel annoyed at the really boring bits about dresses and where they camped... and don't really think about how I feel about different scenes. I remember, though, how it bothered me at 15.

Another part that really touched me was Moiraine's reaction to not being able to save the people at the end of NS. I don't know why that particular part stuck out, but it did.

Also, when Lan told Rand just to let him go when he was hanging off the roof. :help:

You used to be 15?! *teases*

For me it was when Adeleas was shown Vandene's body, and asked to be alone and everyone could hear her cry out. :( It was a reminder that Aes Sedai are human too. Also, when she died in KoD, that got to me too. They were two of my favorite Aes Sedai. All the Aes Sedai I love die! *blames Kaitlin and Olivia just because she can* :help:

Also in KoD, Nynaeve giving that speech to that one guy about the golden crane flying again. I didn't want to be all "yesss!" about the scene, but I couldn't help it.

Let's see....

This one gets me all the time, even during rereads: Elaida coming in and dethroning Siuan. I know what's going to happen, but I still get all upset and all "run away!" like she can hear me. rolleyes.gif

:(

Hmm, I remember Nynaeve's trip into the final ring to become Accepted was sad, where she had to leave Lan behind (even though I don't like the pairing or either of the characters). :( And Moiraine's POV as she went tumbling into the doorway with Lanfear; it was a really heroic death but I was upset that she wouldn't be in the books anymore. I also liked the part where Mat gets hung from the tree and Rand revives him.

Apart from those above, I felt the conversation Rand and Lan had after Moiraine went into the Ter'angreal doorway taking Lanfear with her was pretty impactful.

The scene in which Rand gives poison to an Ash'aman slowly going mad and tells him its going to be allright was also pretty good.

Moiraine going through the doorway got to me. That part with Moiraine dressed so prettily and trying to tell Mat to be more responsible made me sad during a reread, because I knew what would happen.

I blame Marie for making me leave out those Momo parts. >: (

I have to agree with Moiraine going through the doorway, its the only scene in WoT that had me in actual tears, I also thought Mo's telling of the story of Manetheren was very moving

Ooh, I'd forgotten about Moiraine's telling of the Manetheren story! I've forgotten who Aldeleas was, but ooh, yeah, Nynaeve and the Golden Crane was good too. It actually made me think, "Now I HAVE to know what happens next!"

The cleansing of the Taint, all those chapters kept me pretty engaged: I was excited, angry, and frustrated.

(There are members/lurkers not past book six, FYI  Also typing on the Wii not that easy )

lol yeah I'm not past book six. Though a month ago or so I finished 5 & NS.

I felt the same about Egwene.

The heroic end of Moiraine really got to me too. For awhile I didn't really have any fav characters. And disliked Moiraine slightly. But after that....and reading NS. *Mainly just her taking Lanfear with her* really changed how I thought about her. Now I like her =].

It was so sad =[.

That did as well for me. When Moiraine tried to save those people in NS, but could not... =

I really wished that didn't happen to Siuan...her poor warder too =(.

I can't remember anything off hand all of you haven't mentioned.

The scenes taking place in the Age of Legends when Rand is flashbacking while getting tattooed in Rhuiedan (or whatever its called) were all very powerful I think. Especially the one where you see the shattering of the giant dome and the opening of the rift to the Dark One's realm. The fact that you saw that out of the eyes of Lanfear's servant also leant itself to the scene.
